The spectacle yesterday staged in our "house" of representatives was but one occurrence of infamy that has been inflicted on our country and our President by the reactionary and racist johnbirchRepublican party and their allies in, what can be said to be, "non-governance". The litany (or if you prefer-the rap sheet) of their distortions, insults, obstructions and lies will be laid out here in due time; but it is for others, for later generations will know that at a time when America could have shown its long expressed potential, having elected not once but twice and by considerable margin its first African American President, it chose to negate such a turning and reverted to its uglier self. Opposing not by reason or enlightened interest but by hatred and fanaticism most if not all the ideas and programs put forth by the President; unduly putting blame on him for all the miscues and mistakes that were done in the name of the American people, accepting none for themselves; a tactic and nothing more. They are even on record for meeting on the very day that the first Black Man was to be inaugurated as President of the United States they met not to plan a way forward but to make certain- or at least try- that he would not be re-elected; and thats how they governed. Everything that President Obama has achieved in these years as President he has achieved without any Republican support. Yesterday, they took it to a higher level. It was almost comically sad to see Netanyahu greeted like a conquering hero- did he think he was accomplishing anything of value outside of making Congress a pit-stop on his way to re-election? In this case he was more used than using. And he made - thanks to the white-supremacists machinations- his remarks on "good friends" and "allies" and "thanks to Obama" nothing but meaningless lies just by standing there and debased not only his country but all Jews everywhere. Poor Elie Wiesel. Nice waving.
